Seems like yesterday I was posting that Emma turned 1. Now she is 2 years old, going on 18. For the longest time she was telling everyone she was almost 4. She has settled into her 2ness, and was oh so excited at her birthday party. Beginnning in May every year, when her older cousin Noah has a birthday, a whirlwind of birthday parties surpass most of the Alcorn children with Owen, mommy, Lillie, Uncle Mike, Sam, Daddy, then FINALLY Emma, with poor patient Jacob awaiting his big day following Weeta's birthday in October. The birthday parties subside until Grandpa's on both sides having December birthdays (Grandpa Mitchell's being on Christmas day, so no one seems to mind). Emma so desparately wanted a "Dora birthday," which thanks to Party zone, we were able to accompany that request. The funniest moment was during present opening time, Emma paused and exclaimed that she was hungry, went to the kitchen, then got a piece of pizza, only to return to the festivities. What a joy she is!

Time has really flown by, and Lillie is now 6 weeks old! I can't believe it! With only a few weeks left until I return to work, we are savoring every minute of this little sweetie! Fortunately, I will only work 3 nights a week, leaving me ample amounts of snuggle time. More pictures to come as she is changing every day! :)

Here are some pictures from Lillie heading home. Originally when we wanted her birthday to be on 08/08/08, it would go against the grain since Jacob, Owen, & Emma's birthdays are all on the 13th of different months. The funny thing is that even though her bday is on the 8th, she came home on the 13th. For many people 13 is unlucky, but for us it is a lucky number! Miah's soccer number was 13, and his mother was born on the 13th of Feb. :) Just a fun Alcorn fact. We are so glad to have our little one at home. She is doing great, having gone to the doctor on the 14th, and getting a great report. She has already gained back to her birth weight plus some! What a chunk!

Last night Miah & I got to room in with Lillie at the hospital. We heard she might come home today, which would be great since today is the 13th-the same day her brothers and sisters were born. She has been so good! What a little angel!

Being at the hospital has been interesting in that it has felt like such a long time that we have been here, but at the same time, it has gone by so fast. Being together has made such a difference-Mimi and Pop Pop dropped off the kids today for a little while so we could all have some family time together. That proved to be super awesome in that we could enjoy our babies, but could stay close to our tiny baby. Let's you know what is important-FAMILY!

Owen really wanted to go see the baby when they called for me to go to the NICU to nurse Lillie. That was so very special that he wants to be with her!

We made these shirts for Lillie's arrival. Blue hand for Jacob (favorite color), red hand for Owen (favorite color), and pink with glitter/sparklies for Emma (of course favorite color).

On the back, they had big brother Jacob, big brother Owen, and big sister Emma printed on them. Lillie has one too, but we haven't been able to put it on her just yet. Hoping to have her first picture made in it. :)

I had promised Miah that one day, daddy would be her world. I knew that from experience, and assured him that there would be a time when Emma would want daddy to help her with her food, put on her shoes, and even put "piggy tails" in her hair. Well, that day has finally arrived, and I thought this was so very sweet. Emma sure loves her daddy, and you can imagine that he also loves her so very much!

4 days til arrival of baby Lillie! I am scheduled for 8/8/08, for a c section, and am getting so excited! I am also getting ginormous!! I made an executive decision that last week was my last week of work, taking this upcoming week off to get last minute things together in the house, and make sure I have everything together for when we get home. Miah has been frantically trying to finish projects so he can actually enjoy the time at the hospital, and not have to bring a computer to work. I will post pictures as soon as we get home, or sooner since they have high speed internet. Thanks for all the prayers, and can't wait to celebrate in our little angel's arrival!

Being the sweet little guy he is, Owen has become obsessed when someone has a boo boo. Daddy just so happened to have one on his arm that was concerning Owen. He wanted to put "magic cream" and a bandaid on it to make it feel better.

After finishing, he said "all better," and finally could get back to playing. I thought this was really cute :)

The best money ever spent, TMNT costumes bought 2 YEARS ago. Emma just had to wear it, and was so excited to be a turtle.

To show she is a balanced woman, she put on her princess costume and twirled around in it a bit. I am so very excited she will have a sister! Boys, watch out!!!

so we splurged and got a froggy pool from dollar general for $12. woo hoo! they love it, especially since it spits water at them, which they think is awesome. It has been so hot outside that we thought this would be a nice addition to the backyard!
For two who fight so much, these two are so very sweet! Emma loves her big brothers, and from this shot, I guess they love her too!

These two shots really made me realize how old my babies are starting to look! Jacob's face has changed so much, he is turning into a little man! And Owen, also has changed so much! I guess it is the hormones, but I get all teary eyed thinking about it!! No matter, they both still are super loving and so very sweet, promising to always be my babies, and always give momma hugs is enough for me!

Ok, being a fan of all things small and cute, this is no exception. If you don't know, the story of Scooter is one of pure joy. This is the most awesome cat ever created! He is 20% dog and 80% awesome. He always sleeps with me, and one night we couldn't find him anywhere. He was asleep on top of Emma's teddy bear! I know this officially puts me further in the nerd category, but I embrace it if it can allow me to post about my baby cat that has been with us for 9 years.

Ok I know he is not a baby anymore (will always be to me) but I love wrapping Owen up in towels. I asked if he is cute, and he said "yep, I cute." He has been doing so good lately to the glory of GOD! I know that so many have been praying for him, and we can definitely see the results!! We are so terribly excited for him to start his special ed preschool this fall! For now I can just marvel in him, and in HIM that gave us this little sweetie!!!!!

So I finally am official. As of June 17th, I can proudly claim the letters RN! I have truly been enjoying working on my unit, and am beginning my 5th week of orientation. Lillie has been along for the ride with only 5 weeks left until her arrival. Everyone has been so great at work to help me out, and I am just glad to be able to relax at the end of the day without a book in my lap, but rather a baby. I know everyone is glad to end this chapter of my life, and we are all looking forward to the road ahead. Thanks again for all of the prayers and well wishes, I truly have felt so very blessed!

This past Thursday was my pinning ceremony for the RN graduates at my school. I am so very relieved to be finished with this chapter of my life. Although I still have to pass NCLEX (which I am working on by taking a review course this week) I am so grateful to be through with school. Having been in college on and off for the better part of 11 years, it is time to hang up that hat-2 degrees ain't bad! I have accepted a position at a local hospital in the Intensive Care Unit where I preceptored. I will start orientation on the 26th, with my work schedule to be 3 nights/week. Our family needs this, and I need this to fulfill what I feel I was meant to do. I just want to say thank you to everyone for the prayers and cheerleading. Without you guys and God above watching over me and my family through this hard time in our lives, I wouldn't be where I am today!!!!

The intermediate school down the road had this little carnival the other day, which was such fun! Most of the rides were for itty bitties, so everyone got to ride something. I also got a new camera which is so amazing!!! It takes 3 frames per second, so I didn't miss out on any sweet smiles :)

So, yesterday we found out Alcorn #4 is a girl!!!
She is a bit stubborn, having her feet in the way, but after a little bit of maneuvering, we caught a glimpse of well.....
anywho, her name is Lily Elise (or Lillie Elise) can't decide. Will post pics of her ultrasound soon!

Alabama snow

So shortly after having weather in the 60's and 70's, we were blessed with powdered goodness from the sky. Not even close to what we had in Illinois, but down here, this was a big deal! Luckily it was on a Saturday, and just enough to enjoy before it started melting around lunchtime. It was Emma's first snow, and she enjoyed wandering around in it. Jacob was scooping up snow to pelt daddy with. Fun was had by all! What crazy weather we have!

Owen has had these "woo woo's" for a long time, one he got on his first birthday (the one under his head) and the other he got shortly after on Christmas from his Mimi and PopPop. What is so cute about this is he fell asleep like this. Normally he just snuggles up to them, but he was snoring when this was taken. He also had his lightning mcqueen slippers on since they turn him into the iron giant when he wears them. Couldn't pass up a photo op!

Here's Owen with Santa who comes around every year on Christmas Eve on the fire truck. He was very excited. When we went to see Santa at the mall, he told him "Goodbye Santa, goodbye Christmas!" what a sweetie!
Emma was playing around with the camera, and actually took this picture of Jacob (with mommy's assistance ) thought it turned out for a 15 month old!
Owen apparently had enough. This was the best we could get with the distractions of mountains and mountains of presents :)

So, hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year's! We certainly did, and will post pics from Christmas. I am very embarassed that I haven't posted until now, but with school things have been a bit hectic. Miah is home now PRAISE GOD! I am also in my last semester of nursing school, scheduled to graduate May 2nd, again PRAISE GOD!!! Without Him and the love and support of our family, I don't think we would be where we are today!!! Obviously praises go out to Him also for bringing the 4th (and last ) Alcorn baby to our eager home. We are due late August, and are super excited!! Jacob is very excited and told me he was going to teach him/her how to say words like chair, car, and Spiderman. What a blessed way to start the new year! Hope everyone is doing well!!! :)

So Jake turned 5 on the 13th of October. I just now have gotten to adding some pictures from the awesome day! We had such a blast!!!! We had his friends come over, set up some jump n slides, and had a ball. Here is Leo, he was pretty excited, you can guess what the theme of the party was :)

Here is the newest member to the Alcorn family-a 10-12 week old kitten named .... Magenta. Jacob named her and is so excited about her. Seems our pet kingdom is expanding, with the addition of 4 goldfish after the premature demise of the leopard fish. When I returned to Wal-Mart, I noticed the other leopard fish about to assume the same fate as ours, so at least I know it wasn't something I did wrong, just a bad batch of fishies. Anywho, this should do for a while at least. Scooter won't stop hissing at her, but is getting closer to calling a truce.

For Jacob's 5th birthday, he desparately wanted "Cheetah sharks." When asked from where does one purchase such beasts, he proclaimed, "Wal-Mart." Being unaware that Wal-Mart had expanded their product lines to included mythical critters from the ocean, I requested that he show me just exactly to what he was referring. Turns out, those are really called Pictus Catfish. They have evolved from cheetah sharks to leopard sharks, and finally to plain 'ol leopard fish. Either way, he is so terribly excited to have them. Owen is more impressed by the dinosaur living in the tank. I took this video a few minutes ago, and they are still awake watching the fish. It is almost 10:30, and when I tried to turn off the light to the tank, Owen let me know that he wasn't too pleased with that. I am actualy excited to be taking care of these little guys, but just hope they aren't promoted to glory too soon!!!

So we started soccer on the 7th (practice) and had our first game today. Owen was a bit distracted by the trees, birds, ants.... but he did eventually get on the field and out of the net of the goal. It's the little victories that add up! We had a great time, and Jacob was very excited to run back and forth from one side to the other. I don't think his foot actually touched the ball, but he seemed to have a great time :)

So my sweet baby girl is now 1 year old! Her birthday was the 13th, but we just finished having her party tonight, and it was a blast. YaYa took lots of pics so when she sends them along I will post them. This was from Thursday night when we just picked up a store cake and let her blow the candle out. She wasn't too big on digging into the cake, but did enjoy eating it when given with a fork.

So Miah and I adventured over 2000 miles to L.A. where Miah started his new job at Nickelodeon working on El Tigre. His first day was Tuesday and he is having a good time. It is awesome he is staying with some really dear friends, Steve and Sue, and gets to work with Steve on the show, so I don't worry too much about him being so far away. Here are a few pictures we took along the way, more to post later. We went through the painted desert, the petrified forest, and took a detour to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It was a nice adventure, but not so nice of an ending. We are all so very proud of him and love him very much!!!

Spring Valley Beach

We went to Spring Valley Beach, located in Blountsville on the day of Owen's birthday party. It was SOOO much fun!!! It was also very reasonable, I think $15 for adults, and $13 for senior citizens and children. I would highly recommend if you have little ones, or just want to have a great time! check out www.springvalleybeach.com It takes about an hour to get there, and is located off of highway 79 which turns into 231... :)

This is about as long as these glasses stayed on her.. They sure were cute though!
Jake was having a difficult time having to be out of the water long enough to eat a small bite of lunch. He had an awesome time!

Went to TN for a women's retreat for my church, and it was so gorgeous where we stayed, I wanted to share some pictures :) We stayed at a place called the Preserve, and the cabins were so beautiful with hot tub, everything was log cabinesque, and it even had a projection movie type deal downstairs with a huge screen!! I had never been before, but highly recommend going, it is near Gatlinburg.....
